Coup de foudre...pour un fruit/ Crush on a fruit

A Singapour, chaque visite au supermarché ou marché est toujours exotique. Il y a plein de produits inconnus au bataillon des Européens, en particulier au rayon Fruits et Légumes qui regorge des fruits et légumes jamais vus auparavant. Nous testons donc chaque semaine des nouveaux fruits et autres, en y allant complétement au pif.

Mon choix s'est vite arreté sur un fruit que je trouvais vraiment beau. Rose vif, forme originale, je l'ai acheté en n'ayant pas la moindre idée de son nom. Et j'ai poussé un Waaouh quand j'ai coupé ce fruit: l'intérieur est rose vif aussi, une couleur que je n'aurais jamais imaginée pour un fruit, il est juste magnifique! Cela s'appelle Fruit du Dragon. Originaire du Mexique et importé  au Vietnam par les francais, c'est le fruit d'un cactus. 

Beau... mais bon?

Oui! La texture ressemble a celle du kiwi. Le gout est fin et sucré.

Il existe aussi une version avec la chair blanche (mais d'extérieur il est identique), j'ai beaucoup moins aimé: fadasse et plein d'eau...et surtout beaucoup moins beau!

In Singapore, each visit to the supermarket or wet market is exotic. There are plenty of products unknown to  Europeans, especially the  Fruits and Vegetables. Most of them I have never seen before. Each week we test randomly new fruit and other.

My eye quickly stopped at a fruit that I found really beautiful. Bright pink, original shape, I bought it without a clue about his name. And I was totally in love when I cut it off: the inside is bright pink.  I never would have imagined this color for a fruit, it is just beautiful! It's called Dragon Fruit. Native to Mexico and imported into Vietnam by Frenchmen, it is the fruit of a cactus.

Beautiful... but good?

Yes! The texture resembles the one of the kiwi. The taste is delicate and sweet.

There is also a version taht is white inside (but outside is identical), I did not like it that much: dull and full of water ... and definitely less beautiful!
